The annual American College of Cardiology meeting was held in Washington DC this year. The conference included state of the art research projects submitted by teams from all over the globe. The TRIAD research and clinical team presented over 10 projects during the meeting. The TRIAD team’s work focused on imaging in atrial fibrillation management, stroke risk assessment and cardiovascular complications of the COVID-19 virus. Also, posters targeted different aspects and stages of atrial fibrillation treatment.

A poster regarding the intertwined relationship between ischemic heart disease and atrial fibrillation showed more atrial fibrosis and atrial fibrillation recurrence after ablation in coronary artery disease patients. Also, when looking at the different classes of antiarrhythmics prescribed in the atrial fibrillation population, differences were noted in terms of hospitalizations and deaths.
